Charlotte, NC – June 27, 2023 – The Carolinas LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce culminated Pride Month with their highly anticipated annual Friends in Diversity Soiree, held at the prestigious Foundation of the Carolinas. During the event, the Chamber proudly announced a dynamic lineup of recipients for the esteemed Carolinas LGBT+ Icon award.

The distinguished honorees for this year’s award include Shelly Schoenfield, Jennifer Ruppe, Butch Thompson, Gwendolyn Rawls, Cathay Dawkins, and Domenico Ruggerio. These remarkable individuals have demonstrated unwavering dedication and commitment behind the scenes, often without seeking recognition, to create a more inclusive and vibrant region for all.

Chad Turner, President & CEO of the Carolinas LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce, expressed deep admiration for the honorees, stating, “In the face of what has undoubtedly been a challenging year with anti-LGBT legislation in our two-state region, the resilience of our leaders has been awe-inspiring.
