No. The chamber welcomes members of all gender identities and sexual orientations. Many of our most active members are not LGBT+ people, including several past and present chamber board members. More than thirty percent of our membership are allies.
The reasons people join the chamber are as diverse as our membership. Some business owners and professionals are interested in reaching an audience or customer base they might not otherwise have access to. Studies show that LGBT+ people prefer to do business with those who market specifically to them and who show support for equality by supporting LGBT+ events and organizations—even when it costs more to do so. Others join as a way of showing support for LGBT+ equality. Still others join to meet and network with talented, savvy business owners, or because the chamber offers programs and events to help them grow their businesses or professional practices.
No. The Carolinas LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce is a group of professionals and business owners throughout the Carolinas. While many members own businesses, we recognize the need for professional development. Business ownership is not a requirement for membership. We have a strong network of professionals who meet monthly to network.
